ISRO GSLV F11 lifts off successfully |
India`s GSLV F 11 carrying GSAT-7A was launched into space from the second launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota. The heavyweight communication satellite will provide vital data for hi tech communication in strategic fields. GSAT 7A is a geostationary communication satellite weighing 2250 kilogram and will provide communication services in Ku Band over the Indian region. The satellite is said to be vital for the Indian armed forces and air force as it will enable the Indian Air Force to interlink different ground radar stations, airbases and AWACS aircrafts. It will boost the air force`s network-centric warfare capabilities and enhance its operations. GSLV F 11 with indigenous cryogenic upper stage has a total of three stages before reaching the destined orbit using the onboard propulsion system. Though the first stage will take place within 20 minutes of the lift-off, it might take one or two days after separation from the launcher to reach its final orbital stage.
