ISRO launches PSLV C44 |
In another first the Indian Space research agency has successfully launched world`s lightest and smallest satellite built by a student start-up from Chennai along with Kalamsat named after the former President APJ Abdul Kalam. The Indian Space Research Organisation successfully launched the PSLV C44 launch vehicle carrying Kalamsat and imaging satellite Microsat R from Sriharikota on Thursday night. `Kalamsat` is named after former Indian President and an ace scientist APJ Abdul Kalam. Speaking after the launch, ISRO chairman, Dr.K.Sivan termed the mission as a grand success. He said that the rocket precisely injected the Microsat R in its designated orbit. It is the world`s lightest and smallest satellite built by a student start-up from Chennai. Microsat-R will be used to take high-resolution photos of Earth for defence & research purposes. He said that Kalamsat was a great gift on the Republic Day for the Nation. ISRO has plans to tie up with young talented students to create a science specific Nation. Mr. Sivan encouraged the students to do research and said that ISRO is ready to do launch missions for conducting science experiments.
