India, China foreign ministers talk progress |
Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar met Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Tajikistan on 16th September on the side-lines of the 21st SCO Meeting of the Head of States. The two Ministers exchanged views on the current situation along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Eastern Ladakh and also on global developments. Dr. Jaishankar mentioned progress was being made since their last meeting on 14th July. The Indian Minister noted some progress on resolving issues along the LAC in Eastern Ladakh and disengagement in Gogra area was completed. But, some outstanding issues that needed to be resolved. In their last meeting both sides noted that bilateral relations were at low ebb, and prolonging the existing situation was not in the interest of either side. The Ministers agreed that military and diplomatic officials of the two sides should meet again and continue their discussions to resolve the remaining issues at the earliest.
