India Election Commission readies for polls in Bihar state |
The Election Commission of India team will arrive in Patna, the capital of the Indian state of Bihar on 14th September on a two-day visit to the state to review preparations for the forthcoming Assembly polls. The team includes Deputy Election Commissioners Sudeep Jain and Chandrabhushan Kumar. This is the first visit of the Election Commission team before the Assembly polls which is due in October-November this year. The tenure of the current Assembly is scheduled to end on November 29th. During the two-day visit, the ECI team will hold meetings with DMs and SPs of different districts at Patna, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur and Bodh Gaya. Soon after arrival in Patna, the team will leave for Muzaffarpur where they will hold a review meeting with concerned officials of 12 districts including Darbhanga, Madhubani, and Sitamarhi. In the afternoon, they will hold review meetings with DMs and SPs of seven districts including Nalanda, Bhojpur, and Buxar in Patna. The ECI team will later hold a meeting with the Director-General of Police. On 15th September, the team will hold review meetings at Bhagalpur and Bodhgaya. Before returning to Delhi, they will hold a review meeting with the Chief Secretary and other senior officials in Patna.
