India-Saudi Arabia sign important MoUs |
India and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday signed five agreements in various areas, including tourism and housing. A MoU for Cooperation on Broadcasting between Prasar Bharati and Saudi Broadcasting Corporation was also inked to exchange Audio Visual Programme. Saudi Arabia will invest 100 billion dollars in India in range of areas including energy, refining, petrochemicals, infrastructure, agriculture and manufacturing. The two sides expressed satisfaction at the positive trend in the bilateral ties and stressed on the need to tap the untapped potential in trade particularly in Non-Oil trade. The two leaders condemned in the strongest terms the recent terror attack in Pulwama. An increase in Haj quota for Indian pilgrims to 200,000 was also approved by the Crown Prince at the request of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj called on Crown Prince Mohammad Bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. They discussed ways to add momentum to the relationship in various fields, including trade, investment, defence, security, and regional cooperation. Informatively, the bilateral trade was 27.48 billion dollars during the last financial year 2017-18, making Saudi Arabia, India`s 4th largest trading partner.
