India asks Saudi to increase 2019 Haj Quota |
India-Saudi Arabia relations have achieved newer heights under the NDA Regime, in order to further the bilateral relations India has requested Saudi Arabia to increase its annual Haj quota in 2019. India`s Minister for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi has made a request to Saudi Arabia Haj and Umrah Minister Dr Mohammad Saleh bin Taher Benten, to increase the quota of number of pilgrims going to Haj in 2019. Both the leaders also signed the bilateral annual Haj 2019 agreement. Mr. Naqvi stated that the Saudi Arabia Government has always played an active and effective role to ensure safety and better facilities to Indian Haj pilgrims and emphasized that it is a part of strengthened bilateral relations of the two countries. India-Saudi Arabia relations have achieved newer heights under the leadership and guidance of Saudi Arabia King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz and Prime Minister Narendra Modi and both the countries share strong cultural, historical, economic and political relations. For the first time, Indian Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi lifted the ban on women going to Haj without a male companion and after that decision, about 1300 Indian Muslim women went on Haj in 2018.
