India battles fresh attacks on security personnel in J&K |
Just as border tensions were getting normal between India and Pakistan, terrorists targeted another army patrol unit with a vehicle fitted with an improvised explosive device in Pulwama district on Monday. The site of the blast was 27 km from the area where a convoy of vehicles carrying CRPF personnel was attacked by a suicide bomber in February in which 40 jawans were killed. On Tuesday, in an encounter with terrorists, a security forces personnel died in Anantnag in Jammu and Kashmir, a day after an Army major was killed during a gunbattle in the district. Acting on credible input security forces launched a cordon and search operation on Tuesday morning and the operation turned into an encounter after the terrorists fired on the forces, who retaliated. The jawan was injured in the gunbattle, and succumbed to injuries at a hospital.
