India beat Australia to create history |
Indian cricket team created history when they beat Australia by 31 runs in the first test of the Domain Test Series at the Adelaide Oval in Australia. Indian team led by Captain Virat Kohli took a 1-0 lead in the 4 test match series and became the first Asian team to do so in SENA countries which is South Africa, England, New Zealand and Australia. India also became the first Asian country to win a test match in South Africa, England and Australia in one calendar year. Going into the last day`s play, Australia were at 104 for 4 chasing 323 runs with 4 of the top order batsman dismissed. Australia started day 5 with a stout resilience but patience paid off for the Indian seamers as they dismissed the remaining Australian batsmen to clinch victory in the first test match for the first time ever. In the match, Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant too equalled the world record held by Jack Russell and Ab De Villiers, of taking 11 catches in a test match. It is also an Indian record for highest number of catches by a wicketkeeper.
