India celebrates Children`s Day |
India on Wednesday remembered its first Prime Minister, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on his birth anniversary. As a tribute to independent India`s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, Children`s Day is celebrated each year on November 14 in India. Pandit Nehru, who was born on November 14, 1889, was known for his love for children and was fondly called `Chacha Nehru`. Children`s Day marks his birth anniversary. He was also one of the principal leaders of India`s independence movement in the 1930s and `40s. He also played an important role in shaping the country`s education sector. He strongly believed in scientific knowledge and propagated reasoning and rationality as the basis of all learning. He once remarked, “Children are like buds in a garden and should be carefully and lovingly nurtured, as they are the future of the nation and the citizens of tomorrow. Only through right education can a better order of society be built up.” In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tributes to Jawaharlal Nehru. Political leaders and eminent persons will pay tributes to him at his Samadhi, Shanti Vana in New Delhi.
