India cracks down on Digital Terrorism by Pakistan & operatives in Jammu & Kashmir |
In a smart operation, India has swooped down on 14 smartphone applications that officials say terrorists in Pakistan had been using to communicate through coded texts with their operatives in Jammu and Kashmir. These applications were presumably communications platform, and were used to send only coded texts to avoid screening and being discovered. The Government of India has now officially banned the following applications - Crypviser, Enigma, Safeswiss, Wickrme, Mediafire, Briar, BChat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second line, Zangi, and Threema. The Indian government has earlier prohibited more than 250 Chinese Apps. Indian government officials said such crackdown on mobile applications is not new. They said the government will take all steps in the interest of national security.
