India opens biggest cricket stadium in world |
The President of India Ram Nath Kovind formally inaugurated the world`s biggest cricket stadium in Gujarat on 24th February 2021. The revamped the Motera Stadium in Ahmedabad is hosting the pink-ball Test between India and England. This is the first international match. The stadium has the capacity of entertaining one hundred and ten thousand people. However, Motera will only allow only 55 thousand capacity for the third Test owing to COVID-19 restrictions. The fourth Test series between India and England is currently level at 1-1. After tasting a humiliating defeat in the series-opener, the Virat Kohli-led side made a strong comeback in the second Test of the four-match series in Chennai with a memorable 317 run victory to level the series at 1-1. India`s chances of earning a World Test Championship final spot depends upon the outcome of the remaining tests and hence India is fielding their strongest bowling attack of the series so far. The Motera Stadium will host the remaining two Test matches of the series, as well as all of the five T20Is between the two sides. The T20I series will begin on 12th March.
