India polls: Campaigning ends for 6th phase |
Political fever is at its high as campaigning ended for the 6th phase of elections. Stakes are high as 59 constituencies, spread over 7 states, get ready to go to polls in the 6th phase of general elections on 12th May this Sunday. Voting in this phase will take place for 14 seats in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Haryana, 8 seats each in West Bengal, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Delhi and 4 in Jharkhand. Central armed forces are deployed in West bengal for the 6th and 7th phase of polling after reports of violence in the previous 2 phases of polling in the state. Star campaigners of various political parties including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, BJP president Amit Shah and Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi are holding rallies and road shows in different parts of the country to woo the voters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed rallies at Rohtak in Haryana, Mandi in Himachal Pradesh and Hoshiarpur in northern state of Punjab on friday. BJP President Amit Shah campaigned at Barwala in Hisar district, and Charkhi Dadri in the state of Haryana.
