India retail inflation rises to 4.62 percent |
India`s Retail inflation surged to a high of 4.62 percent in October mainly on account of higher food prices. The data released on Wednesday stated that the inflation in the food basket spiked to 7.89 percent in October this year as against 5.11 percent the preceding month while it was at 3.18 percent in June 2019. According to the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation, the overall food inflation, measured on Consumer Food Price Index was 3.99 percent in September and 3.38 percent in October last year.
