India wins Gandhi-Mandela cricket test series |
Indian cricket team on Tuesday completed a 3-0 whitewash of South Africa with yet another comprehensive innings and 202 runs in the third and final Test in Ranchi. South Africa were all out for 132 in their second innings as the final two wickets were taken by Shahbaz Nadeem within the first two overs of the day. In the match, Indian captain Virat Kohli enforced the follow-on for the eighth time in his career as Test captain, surpassing Mohammad Azharuddin`s mark of seven. With this win India has won the Gandhi Mandela series and also retains the top position in the ICC World Test Championship with 200 points. The series was all about Rohit Sharma who scored two tons in the first test and finished with the double hundred in the third. His opening partner Mayank Agarwal scored his maiden double hundred in the first and backed it up with another ton in the second. Captain Virat Kohli too scored another double hundred in the second test. The batsmen were backed by accurate bowling performances with Ravichandran Ashwin, Ravindra Jadeja, Mohammed Shami and Umesh Yadav going through the defences of the South African batsman. Opener Rohit Sharma was declared the Man of the Match and Man of the series for his brilliant performances with the bat scoring 100 plus scores in the four innings.
