Indian currency Rupee falls below 72 mark |
Indian markets failed to sustain early gains and turned volatile in early noon trade. After rising over 650 points to 37,363 at day`s high, the Sensex fell to 36,492 at day`s low - a swing of nearly 900 points. On Friday, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced a raft of measures to boost market sentiment and revive the slowing economy. But a weak global backdrop could cap the upside in the near term for Indian markets. The rupee however opened weak on Monday, falling close to 72 a dollar amid a weakening of the Chinese yuan, which fell to an 11-year low against the US dollar amid intensifying trade war. In the morning, the Sensex was up 43 points at 36,744 while Nifty was flat at 10,831.
