Indian doctor performs world`s first in-human telerobotic operation |
Dr. Tejas Patel, a senior Indian cardiologist, made history recently when he performed world`s first in-human telerobotic coronary intervention. Sitting behind a console at the temple complex in Akshardham, the Swaminarayan temple in Gandhinagar of Indian state of Gujarat and performing the operation on a middle aged woman in Apex Hospital, 32 km away from his location. The procedure, driven by cutting-edge technology, was carried out by an internet enabled robotic arm in the operation theatre.
