Indian skipper Kohli quickest to reach 20,000 runs |
Indian cricket team captain and talismanic batsman, Virat Kohli became the fastest batsman to score 20,000 international runs cumulatively across all formats of international cricket. He achieved the feat when he reached the score of 37 playing against the West Indies in the Cricket World Cup`s league match at Old Trafford. Kohli went on to score his 4th consecutive half century on his way to the score of 72 which helped India defeat the West Indies team by 125 runs. Kohli had started the game on 19,963 runs to his name and was just 37 runs short of the record that legendary Indian batsman Sachin Tendulkar held along with West Indies great Brian Lara. Kohli took only 417 innings to achieve the feat while the two cricketing greats achieved the milestone in 453 innings each. Kohli, who was also adjudged man of the match, has now scored a total of 11,124 runs in ODIs, and has 6,613 Test runs and 2,263 runs in T20Is India now got the second spot with 11 points from six matches while West Indies with 3 points from 7 matches are out of the semi-finals race.
