Jet shuts operations temporarily |
Many air passengers were left stranded as one of the oldest private airlines of India, Jet Airways, suspended its operations temporarily from Wednesday night. Jet Airways board has informed the Indian Government that it is temporarily ceasing its operations. The Civil Aviation Ministry said, the bank-led resolution process is still underway and it is expected to end by the 10th of next month. During this time, the Ministry will support the resolution process within the existing legal and regulatory framework. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation and other regulators are monitoring the situation carefully, to ensure that all existing rules regarding refunds, cancellations and alternative bookings are followed. Civil Aviation Secretary has called separate meetings with airport and airlines on Thursday to coordinate and address any emerging issues on capacity, slots and passenger convenience. Notwithstanding these assurances, passengers are facing difficulties to catch fights to meet their prior commitments. Many say they are even facing difficulties in refunds.
