Kohli first captain to scroe 5 consecutive 50s in world Cup |
Indian cricket team captain Virat Kohli became the first captain in the history of World Cups to register five consecutive fifties on Sunday during the match with England. Opener Rohit Sharma too scored his third century of the World Cup, being the only batsman to do so in this edition of the world cup. But both could not save the day for India as hosts England beat India by 31 runs in the league match played at Birmingham. Batting first, England made 337 for 7 thanks to a solid first wicket partnership of 160 between Jason Roy and Johny Bairstow. Chasing the huge target of 338, India could only score 306 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs.
