MNCs in India recover well post second wave |
Good news on economic recovery in India. More than a dozen Multinational companies including Unilever, Apple, Mondelez, Visa, Whirlpool, and Skechers said that the demand in India recovered sharply since June 2021, after second COVID-19 wave restrictions were eased. Some of them reportedly say that sales even reached pre-Covid levels. Most companies said despite a severe second wave in the country, localized lockdowns were not as disruptive as 2020, and sales are improving month-on-month basis. The good news comes months after operations were hit as India implemented another round of lockdowns during the second wave of Covid-19. While e-commerce was allowed to sell only essentials, malls and non-essential stores were shut across the country and food and grocery stores had restricted operating hours in several states of the country.
