Mega rallies of BJP top brass in North India |
It was a show of strength against each other as Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh`s grand alliance leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati held election rallies in a face off close to Ayodhya, the temple town part of the Lok Sabha seat that has been the centre of the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute. This was the first time since 2014 after coming to power, that PM Modi had visited the area. Addressing the rally Prime Minister said that it is a new India which will not sit quietly. PM Modi`s rally was held just 25 km from the site of disputed site in Ayodhya. Samajwadi Party`s Akhilesh Yadav and Bahujan Samaj Party chief Mayawati held their joint rally at Ram Snehi Ghat, a location that is on the border of Uttar Pradesh`s Barabanki and Ayodhya districts and 70 km from the temple town. Bharatiya Janata Party president Amit Shah, while addressing a rally in the national capital, said that no need to vote for my candidates for the work they may or may not be doing, but vote for the change of face brought by PM Modi to India.
