Modi greeted with aplomb in return to India from UN |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi returned home to a grand welcome after a week-long visit to the United States on Saturday and received a rousing welcome after landing at Palam Technical Air Force station in New Delhi. Addressing the gathering that reached the airport, PM Modi said India`s stature has gone up in the eyes of the world. He said the main reason for the country`s growing stature is the 130 crore Indians who elected a strong government at the Centre. Remembering the courage of India`s brave soldiers, Prime Minister said that three years ago, on 28 Sept only, the brave soldiers of the country had showcased the glory of India before the world by executing the surgical strike. During his visit to the US, PM Modi attended the mega Howdy Modi event on the first day and addressed 50,000 Indian Americans at the NRG Stadium in Houston and then on Friday, addressed the UN General Assembly session. PM Modi called upon the international community to unite against terrorism for the sake of humanity. He lamented the lack of unanimity amongst the member states on the issue of terrorism saying that it hurts those very principles, which are the basis for the creation of the United Nations.
