Modi marks Diwali with Indian Army men on Border |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has turned it into a Diwali tradition and once again celebrated the Hindu Deepawali or Diwali festival on November 14 with Indian army soldiers at the Longewala post in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, along the border with Pakistan. Modi hailed the Indian army for guarding the borders of the country and said that the nation is proud of the strength and bravery of their soldiers. The Prime Minister said his Diwali is complete only by being with the brave hearts. Modi called upon the youth of the country to work for the betterment of the army, saying many start-ups had recently come forward to cater to the needs of the forces. The Prime Minister also spoke on the enhanced role of women in the Indian army and how the efforts are being taken to reduce dependency on imports of weapons. In a veiled attack on China, PM Modi said that expansionist ideas of some countries are creating trouble for the entire world and India is confronting it with great strength. The Prime Minister had visited Jammu and Kashmir`s Rajouri district to celebrate 2019 Diwali with the army.
