Modi says new policy to make India an education hub |
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India`s new educational policy will focus more on learning instead of studying. The Prime Minister addressed the inaugural session of the Governors` Conference on the National Education Policy on 7th September. The conference titled "Role of NEP-2020 in Transforming Higher Education" was organised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India. He said, as foreign policy, defence policy is of the country, not govt, so is education policy. It belongs to everyone. Education policy is the key to fulfil the nation`s aspirations with minimal government intervention and influence. The new education policy paves way for opening campus of best international institutions in India so that the youth from common family can also join them. PM Modi added that more and more teachers, parents, and students are associated with the education policy. This is more relevant and broad-based. The policy focuses more on learning than studying and goes beyond the curriculum to focus on critical thinking, he added. The new National Education Policy strives for making India into an equitable and vibrant knowledge society. It envisions an India-centred education system that contributes directly to transforming India into a Global Superpower. Indian President Ram Nath Kovind also participated in the conference via video conferencing.
