Modi wants all COVID-19 problems sorted out at smallest local level |
On 30th April 2021, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a high level meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to discuss and iron out any hindrances in India`s fight against the catastrophic second wave of COVID-19. In a marathon almost day-long meeting of the entire Cabinet of Ministers chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he reviewed the 14-month battle against COVID-19 in the country with a focus on the current catastrophe unleashed in the second wave. Addressing the Ministers, Modi made it clear that all arms of the Government must continue to work unitedly & rapidly to deal with the situation. He also urged the Ministers to stay in touch with people of their respective regions and constituencies, deal with state governments and union territories and also reach out to the smallest administrative level to ensure getting feedback and supporting them as best possible. Modi and his Cabinet reviewed in detail the efforts by the Central Government in coordination with the States towards to build and ramp up medial infrastructure to create temporary hospitals with tens of thousands of beds, ICUs, ventilators and Oxygen production, storage and transport facilities. Modi said he wanted tracking and tackling issues related to availability of essential medicines, equipment and supplies. The meeting noted that India was ready with ability to successfully produce two indigenous vaccines. To meet the country`s demand, other major vaccine manufacturers were asked to apply and get licences to bring globally certified vaccines to India.
