NCP, Congress seat-sharing for Maharashtra polls |
Maharashtra`s Nationalist Congress Party and Indian National Congress on Monday finalised their seat sharing formula for the upcoming Legislative Assembly election in Maharashtra. Both the parties will contest 125 seats each in the elections. Maharashtra Assembly has 288 seats. The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar made the announcement about the seat-sharing pact while addressing reporters in Nasik. He said as per the arrangement, 38 seats will be left for allies to contest. He also said that NCP will give chance to new faces in the polls. According to reports, the finalisation of the seat-sharing pact between the Congress and the NCP comes after many high-profile exits from both parties. In 2014, NCP had then ended the 15-year alliance after the two parties had been unable to reach a seat-sharing arrangement ahead of Assembly elections and the two parties had contested the state elections separately.
