Now, US may sanction Pak officials |
The US may now go after individual Pakistan government officials with terror ties, a senior US administration official told the American publication Politico. This will likely be in the form of sanctions on Pakistan government officials found with ties to terrorist organizations. Such sanctions, if imposed, will be part of an overall regional strategy that lets Pakistan know that "business as usual as it has been up to now is over." These comments came hours after what`s possibly US President Donald Trump`s harshest verbal attack on Pakistan. While announcing the US`s Afghanistan policy review, Trump appeared to blame Pakistan for the entire mess in Afghanistan. He said Pakistan is giving "safe havens to agents of chaos, violence and terror". That will have to change and that will change immediately... it is time for Pakistan to dedicate to civilization and order and peace, Trump said. The senior administration official indicated the US is running out of patience.
