P V Sindhu creates history |
India`s badminton sensation P V Sindhu lifted the prestigious season-ending World Tour Finals trophy at Guangzhou, China on Sunday. The ace indian shuttler and the Olympic silver medallist defeated Japan`s Nozomi Okuhara 21-19, 21-17 in the summit clash. Sindhu accomplished the feat after losing seven successive summit clashes. She had also won silvers at the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games and World Championships this year. Expressing happiness at her victory, Sindhu said, the year has ended on a beautiful note. Badminton Association of India President Himanta Biswa Sarma congratulated Sindhu on her historic win. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Leader of Opposition Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and many others have congratulated ace shuttler P V Sindhu on winning the BWF Tour title. The Badminton Association Of India (BAI) has also announced a cash reward of 10 lakh rupees for P V Sindhu for winning the women`s singles championship. BAI also announced a cash reward of 3 lakh rupees for Sameer Verma who reached the semifinal in his maiden appearance at the World Tour Finals.
