PIOs rally in support of Citizenship Amendment Act |
India`s Citizenship Amendment Act has now found support offshore as well, as scores of Indian Americans braved sub-zero temperatures and held a rally in support of the act. They came with colourful and meaningful placards, slogans, banners and flags of USA and India. The participants signed a memorandum supporting the CAA and thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Indian government for the humanitarian help to religiously persecuted minorities in three neighbouring countries. The memorandum was forwarded to the Government of India through the Consul General of India in Chicago. A similar rally was also held in London demonstrating widespread support for the CAA. Meanwhile, Indian Home Minister Amit Shah launched the door-to-door campaign and addressed a huge gathering of hundreds of BJP booth workers in Delhi. He also asked the massive crowd to note down the CAA support helpline number. Amit Shah also said that Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are instigating people against the Citizenship Act. He asked the opposition leaders to note what happened at Nankana Sahib Gurudwara in Pakistan and the way they were attacked. He asked, where will our Sikh brothers go if not India."
