PM flags off world`s first diesel to electric locomotive & inaugurated various development projects |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on tuesday flagged off an indigenously developed - diesel to electric converted locomotive engine of ten thousand Horse Power at Diesel Locomotive-works in Varanasi. The locomotive is the first of its kind, to have been converted from diesel to electric one. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inspected the locomotive from the inside. This locomotive was designed under the Indian Railways` Mission 100 percent electrification and decarbonization. Later, addressing a public meeting in Rohania area of Varanasi, he pitched for full support in the coming lok sabha elections. Modi said that a full majority and strong government are needed for making a New India. He added that the construction of New India will start from Uttar Pradesh. He inaugurated and laid foundation stones of 47 development projects worth more than 470 million dollars. The projects inaugurated include super speciality and casualty blocks of 150-bed ESIC Hospital, 100-bed maternity wing of government women`s hospital, upgradation of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital and city community health centre at Shivpur.
