Almost 800 kilometers away from Prayagraj, site of ongoing religious Kumbh, a political Kumbh of opposition parties and their supporters was held on Saturday at Kolkata to trumpet poll bugle for forthcoming general elections-2019. Ever since start of religious Kumbh on January 15, millions of devotees and tourists have taken a dip in holy Sangam, But scores of workers trooped towards political rally site to immerse themselves in political narratives aimed at ousting the Narendra Modi government at the Centre. One former prime minister, three chief ministers, six former chief ministers and five former Union ministers attended the Mamata Banerjee-hosted `United India Rally` at Brigade maidan. Former prime minister and Janata Dal-Secular (JDS) chief H D Deve Gowda, former Uttar Pradesh CM and Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, former Maharashtra CM and ex-Union minister Sharad Pawar and former Arunachal Pradesh CM Gegong Apang, Andhra Pradesh chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, Karnataka CM H D Kumaraswamy, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and leader of the opposition in Lok Sabha, Congress`s Mallikarjun Kharge attended the rally.
