Amid the heat of elections and the release of Bharatiya Janata Party`s manifesto, the issue of parties of Jammu & Kashmir demanding separate PM took an ugly turn with senior BJP leader and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh saying that there will be no option with the government other than abolishing articles 370 and 35A of the Constitution related to special status to Jammu and Kashmir if any party or leader talks about having a separate Prime Minister for the state. With the release of BJP`s manifesto, several main parties in Kashmir on monday described the BJP`s proposal to abrogate article 370 and article 35 A in it`s manifesto as dangerous. Parties of the Kashmir valley cautioned that it will have far reaching consequences and will end relations of state with India. Recently J&K Governor claimed there was no threat to Art 370 & 35-A. The BJP had said that party`s position on Article 370 has been the same since the time of the Jan Sangh. It said that BJP is committed to annulling Article 35A of the Constitution of India as the provision is discriminatory against non-permanent residents and women of Jammu and Kashmir. They believe that Article 35A is an obstacle in the development of the state.
