Race for BJP president post |
Major speculations and rumours are doing rounds over who will succeed as Bharatiya Janata Party president as current president Amit Shah has joined Union cabinet in the capacity of Home Minister. Reports are that either J.P. Nadda or Bhupendra Yadav, both Rajya Sabha members, could be the next party president. While J.P. Nadda was holding the health portfolio in the previous Modi government, Bhupendra Yadav is national general secretary in Amit Shah`s team.As J P Nadda`s name did not feature in team Modi, his absence gave rise to speculation that he could succeed Mr Shah. Bhupendra Yadav is the BJP`s state-incharge of Bihar and Gujarat, the two states where the party performed very well in the just concluded Lok Sabha polls, and is considered close to both Shah and Modi.
