Rahul Gandhi to contest from Wayanad as well |
Amid growing demands by his party members, Congress party president Rahul Gandhi will be contesting from the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala along with his ancestral constituency, Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. Giving in to the demands of his followers and party members from the Southern states of India, Indian National Congress President Rahul Gandhi has decided that he will contest from Wayanad Lok Sabha seat in Kerala along with his Amethi seat in Uttar Pradesh. Senior congress leader and former defence minister AK Antony announced the decision to the media at a press conference. Former CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat said that this decision shows Congress party`s priorities to fight in Kerala which is the main stronghold of Left Democratic Front, which is also fighting the BJP. Now will Congress be fighting the Left parties in Kerala for Lok Sabha? The Left Democratic Front (LDF) has fielded CPI`s PP Suneer from the Wayanad seat.
