Delhiites can expect some relief from scorching heat on June 6 as rain spells are expected to lash parts of Delhi-NCR. The The Met office said the heat wave may continue till then. Peak thunderstorm activity is likely to occur on June 7, with squally winds likely to reach speeds of 55kmph or above. The reason for the wet weather is a western disturbance (WD) that is set to hit western Himalayas from June 5 evening. It will cause an induced circulation over Punjab, a low pressure zone that is likely to lead to moisture convergence in the region. The maximum temperature on June 5 is expected to be 43 degrees C while the minimum is likely to be very high, at 32 degrees. Three spells of rain were likely during this period. Hot loo winds sweeping in from Rajasthan scorched Delhi-NCR on June 4, sending the mercury shooting up to a blistering 47 degrees Celsius at Palam. Delhi`s main weather station, Safdarjung, touched 44.6 degrees C, making it the hottest day in the city since May 2015.
