Record 200,000+ new COVID-19 cases in India |
India`s Health Ministry and Family Welfare (MoHFW) India reported a record 200,739 COVID-19 new cases during last 24 hours until the morning of 15th April 2021. This takes the cumulative count of COVID-19 cases in India to over 14 million. India has been the world`s worst-hit country since April 2, forcing states to scramble to impose curbs to control the virus. Deaths stood at 1,038, taking the total to 173 thousand and 123. The country`s total caseload reached 14.1 million, just behind the United States that leads the global tally with 31.4 million cases. Meanwhile, the Education Ministry on 14th April 2021 announced postponement of Class 12th class National Common Examinations called Board Exams conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The Board canceled the Class 10 national examinations amid growing concerns over the surge in COVID-19 CASES. The Ministry will review the situation for Class 12 on the 1st of June and could announce new dates with two weeks notice. The decision affects roughly 2.15 million Class 10 students and 1.4 million Class 12 students in India. The decision came at the highest level in a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal and the Ministry`s top officers on 14th April. The Class 10 and 12 exams were earlier scheduled to start on May 4.
