Record pilgrims visited Kedarnath |
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has an aura matched by none, and what he starts is inspiring to many Indians. International yoga day is the biggest example but what can be witnessed in the holy shrine of Kedarnath is beyond compare. Breaking all time records, an estimate of over 700 thousand pilgrims visited the Himalayan shrine in Uttarakhand in the first 45 days after the shrine was opened for this year`s Char Dham yatra. During last year`s six month period of yatra, around 732 thousand people visited the shrine, while amazingly the number already stands at 735 thousand lakh in the 45 days mark itself. Organizers are giving the credit for this surge to PM Modi whose frequent visits to the shrine, including the much talked about visit, a day before polling in his constituency of Varanasi. The demand for the meditation cave has also increased among the people after the PM`s visit. Organizers believe that they still have five more months to go. We are hopeful that this year footfall will cross 1.5 million by the end of the yatra in October. Usually a busy pilgrim place, the numbers shrunk heavily after the flash floods in 2013 but now is coming back to normalcy.
