Rishabh Pant attains joint highest ranking for an Indian Wicketkeeper |
Indian cricket team`s wicket keeper batsman, Rishabh Pant has gained yet another landmark after a successful test series in Australia as he jumped to the 17th place in the recently released ICC Test Rankings for batsmen. He now jointly holds the highest ranking for a wicketkeeper batsman along with Farookh Engineer who got the same ranking in the year 1973. Pant has already scaled new heights when he became the first Indian wicketkeeper to score a century on Australian soil. He has risen 21 slots to reach 17th place in the rankings. His aggregate at 673 points is highest for any Indian wicketkeeper, former captain MS Dhoni had an aggregate of 662 points and Farookh Engineer had 619 points. Mahendra Singh Dhoni`s highest test ranking was 19th during his career. Pant, with his unbeaten 159 in the last test at the Sydney Cricket Ground, has moved into the top-20 ICC rankings in only his 9th Test match. Pant had started the Australian tour in 59th place and made rapid progress, scoring 350 runs in the series where he also took 20 catches.
