Robert Vadra questioned by Enforcement Directorate |
Amid growing cacophony of allegations that the Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance is using enforcement and investigation agencies to tighten screws on opposition parties, The enforcement Directorate yesterday questioned Robert Vadra, businessman and husband of Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, for five hours in a money laundering case and his connections with defence deals middle man. Mr Vadra, is the son-in-law of Congress leader Sonia Gandhi. His wife, Priyanka accompanied Robert up to the ED office in the National capital. This is the first time Mr Vadra, also the brother-in-law of Congress president Rahul Gandhi, is appearing before any probe agency. Mr Vadra has denied these allegations in the past and termed them a witch-hunt by the BJP government to settle political scores with the Congress. Priyanka made it clear that she wanted to send a "clear message" with her appearance. "I stand by my husband," she told media persons. Allegations are that Robert had purchased of properties in London. The agency told the court last week that it had received information about Vadra`s several properties in London including two houses and six flats. Delhi court has granted interim bail to Vadra in this case and had directed him to appear before the ED and cooperate in the investigation.
