SC orders Ayodhya case to be settled through mediation |
The supreme court on friday ordered that the decades-old Ram Janmabhoomi dispute will be settled through mediation. A three member panel will also be formed for the mediation. Justice Ibrahim Khalifulla will head the three-member mediation committee, of which Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will be a member. The media will be barred from the mediation proceedings, which will take place in Faizabad, said the five-judge bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice of India Ranjan Gogoi. The dispute involves 2.77 acres of land in Ayodhya where a 16th century mosque, said to be built by Mughal emperor. An unruly mob had razed the structure on December 6 , saying it was built on the birth place of Lord Ram.
