Scholarships for minorities |
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi`s government has set a new target for its tenure and that is to give out five crore scholarships for the education of minorities over the next five years. The programme will have major focus on girls as part of the government`s outreach to minority communities. Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Tuesday announced that various scholarships will be provided to 5 crore students, which will also include 50 percent girl students. He said, the outreach is part of the government`s efforts to create an atmosphere of healthy inclusive growth by eradicating the "disease of communalism" and appeasement politics. The NDA government is a dispensation committed to inclusive growth with trust. After the recent win in the Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Modi had expanded the "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas" slogan to "Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas". The huge mandate in a state like Uttar Pradesh had made it clear that the minorities has rejected the communal politics of Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati. In the interim budget announced in February 2019, the government had allocated 13.5 billion dollars - a jump of 1.44 billion dollars from the previous year`s allocation.
