Scindia says Cong Party needs reassessment |
As an intense power struggle rages between former Congress president Rahul Gandhi`s team and the old guard, there are major concerns in the grand old party of India. Ahead of the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana and Maharashtra states, senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid on Tuesday slammed Mr. Gandhi for walking away soon after the 2019 results, robbing the party of an opportunity to carry out a detailed analysis. He said that the party cannot administer a treatment if the very nature of the “ailment” was not known. He expressed disappointment at the current arrangement with Sonia Gandhi leading the party as an “interim” president and wished that she stays on as president. On Wednesday, Congress general secretary Jyotiraditya Scindia said that the party needed to introspect and assess the present situation to make improvements. He said that there is no ambiguity that Congress does need introspection and assessing the present situation to make improvements is the need of the hour. Many young leaders considered as Rahul Gandhi`s loyalists have resigned from party posts or quit Congress in recent times.
