South Africa`s President Cyril Ramaphosa with his wife and high level delegation arrives in New Delhi to be the chief guest for the 70th Republic day celebrations. President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa arrived in New Delhi on Friday on a two-day visit to India. He will be the Chief Guest for India`s 70th Republic Day celebrations. President Ramaphosa is the second President of South Africa after President Nelson Mandela to be the Chief Guest at the Republic Day parade. The visit is expected to further strengthen and enhance the close relationship between India and South Africa. India is among the top five trading partners of South Africa. The bilateral trade has increased to 10.65 billion dollars in 2018-19 from 9.38 billion dollars in 2017-18. Both countries have close cooperation in the areas of vocational training and capacity building. Mr Ramaphosa will also deliver the Gandhi-Mandela Freedom Lecture organized by Indian Council of World Affairs under IBSA framework as a part of the celebrations of the 15th Anniversary of IBSA. President Ramaphosa was accorded the ceremonial welcome at Rashtrapati Bhawan on his arrival. India`s President Ram Nath Kovind will host At Home Reception in honour of the visiting dignitary in the evening on 26th.
