Top diplomats join Durga Pooja festivities in Beijing |
India celebrated on Sunday the festival of Vijayadashami which marks the triumph of good over evil, amid COVID-19 restrictions. In the National Capital Delhi, effigies of Ravana, Kumbhkarna, and Meghnad were burnt at many places but with very little attendance by people due to restrictions. So also, many participated in virtual Pushpanjali for Durga Puja and celebrated festivities in a scaled-down manner from home. President Ram Nath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and Prime minister Narendra Modi greeted the people on the occasion. The festival was celebrated by the Indian community in Beijing as well where top diplomats from India, Bangladesh & Nepal joined Durga Pooja celebrations. Festivities were organized at the Indian Embassy in Beijing. Indian Ambassador to China, Vikram Misri while addressing the gathering which was also attended by the top diplomats from Bangladesh and Nepal said, Durga Pooja reminds us of our shared heritage in the Indian subcontinent. Ambassadors of Bangladesh and Nepal in China also shared their festival greetings through a recorded message. A joyous Indian Community led by Beijing Bongs gathered from various parts of China to get soaked in the pious aura of goddess Durga with traditional pooja and music.
