UK plans to remove cap on skilled migrants |
In one of the biggest policy change expected after Brexit, Britain may remove the cap on number of skilled Indians migrating to the country. UK home secretary Sajid Javid released a white paper setting out new immigration system which allows migrants on the basis of skills and talent and not on their country of origin. The proposal is a vital step to attract the brightest talents to Britain which will boost economy and productivity. The rules also extend the length of time that international students can stay in Britain to work after their degrees end from 4 months to six months if they have bachelor`s or master`s and to 12 months if one has a Ph.D. According to a report in the year ending June 2018, the number of visas issued to Indian students going to britain grew 32% over the previous year - the third successive year that student visa numbers have increased. These new Visa laws will definitely give a new boost to Skilled Indians.
