UNICEF ED welcomes Indian businesses into a new partnership |
UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore on a maiden week-long visit to India in conjunction with the Mahatma Gandhi International Sanitary Convention (MGISC) visited the National Stock Exchange in Mumbai on 5th October 2018. Fore said businesses had always been part of UNICEF's work for children and young people. Businesses develop vaccines that save children's lives, make protective equipment that keeps health workers safe from disease, diagnostic tools and equipment, ready-to-use-foods and fortified foods, and distribution and transport systems that deliver vital, lifesaving supplies wherever they're needed. She complimented Indian businesses for adopting "doing good" as "good business" or purpose over profit. UNICEF will continue to collaborate with businesses to find new and more effective ways of reaching the children and young people everywhere. She asked Indian businesses to join 'Generation Unlimited' - looking at new ways to connect your organizations, products, innovations and market reach with the needs of young people to gain education and skills. For this, Ravi Venkatesan will be the new UNICEF Special Representative for Young People. Fore rang the closing bell at NSE headquarters in Mumbai.
