US Senate resolution backs India against China |
India has successfully drawn the attention of the global community against China`s aggression in Ladakh. India has garnered strategic support for its India`s stance on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China. In a major effort of support for India, a bipartisan resolution was introduced in the US Senate on 13th August. Senators John Cornyn and Mark Warner moved the resolution that “condemns the People`s Republic of China`s use of military force to change the status quo at the Line of Actual Control, as well as its refusal to de-demarcate that Line in accordance with past bilateral agreements with India.” The two Senators are co-chairs of the India Caucus in the Senate. The resolution also calls for a “diplomatic solution that rapidly restores the April 2020 status quo at the Line of Actual Control”. The tensions between India and China have becoming alarming since June 15 when in a skirmish between the armed forces on the LAC in Ladakh resulted in the deaths of approximately 20 Indian soldiers and many more Chinese soldiers.
