US adds dollar 25 mn more for India vaccination program |
The USA will add another US$ 25 million to its COVID vaccination programme for India. This was announced by US Secretary of State Antony Blinken following his meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on 28th July. Modi and Bilken discussed a gamut of bilateral and multilateral initiatives mutual strategic interest to both countries. Modi also made it a point to mention that the Indian diaspora in the US has contributed immensely to the enhancement of bilateral ties. Modi underlined that the strategic partnership will be of much greater global significance in the coming years, to meet challenges posed by COVID-19, global economic recovery and climate change. Blinken conveyed the warm greetings of US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris to the Prime Minister, and the same was reciprocated. Modi also mentioned his appreciation for President Biden`s initiatives on the Quad, COVID-19, and Climate Change. Blinken publicly spoke of the increasing convergence between India and the US on a wide range of bilateral and multilateral issues, and converting it into concrete and practical cooperation. Indian External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar met Blinken. Jaishankar highlighted that India-US cooperation covers virtually all domains of contemporary relevance. The Indian Minister made a special mention of working together with USA and other partners for democratic stability in Afghanistan.
