Yediyurappa quits as Karnataka CM |
Ruling Bharatiya Janata Party`s Chief Minister in the state of Karnataka, BS Yediyurappa, resigned on 26th July. He had completed two years in his current term. The move was anticipated, as BJP central headquarters wanted to change him. BJP general secretary CT Ravi said that Yediyurappa would continue to guide Karnataka and BJP. Ravi did not offer details on who would be the next BJP Chief Minister. BJP National President J P Nadda on 25th July ruled out any crisis in the party state unit and said Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had done a good job. For the past several weeks, speculations had been rife about Yediyurappa`s exit and the change of guard in the state. On 22nd July, Yediyurappa said he would abide by the party high command decision. Yediyurappa strongly quitting to allow leadership change in Karnataka. Last month, some BJP MLAs had demanded that Yediyurappa must step down as chief minister.
