At 180 kmph, Talgo hits record |
The Spanish high-speed Talgo train on July 13 broke the speed record of India’s fastest train, the recently launched Gatiman Express, by clocking 180 km per hour during its third trial run on Mathura-Palwal stretch. It covered the 80-km stretch in 39 minutes.The Indian Railways started the trials of the Talgo train on July 9. On its second run on July 12, it had hit 170 kmph.The Indian Railways’ Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO) will conduct several more rounds of tests till July 26, before finalising its use and suitability on Indian tracks.Talgo envisages that the journey between Delhi and Mumbai can be completed in about 12 hours compared to 17 hours at present.
